"Discover Tubbataha Reefs, an underwater paradise every diver should experience firsthand."
Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is a dream destination for every diver. And rightfully so. This underwater treasure is located far from inhabited areas, right in the heart of the Sulu Sea, where nature remains almost untouched. Its stunning coral reefs, spanning an area of more than 97,000 hectares, are considered one of the best diving sites not only in Asia but in the entire world.
This isolated location, accessible only during the dry season from March to June, is particularly popular among experienced divers. Thanks to its remoteness, the biodiversity here remains virtually untouched by human activity. Ocean currents bring an abundance of plankton and nutrients, attracting both migrating whale sharks and schools of pelagic fish.
Tubbataha Reefs Marine Park was established in 1988 as the first protected marine area in the Philippines and has since become a model for marine conservation in the region. In 1993, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is consistently recognized as one of the best-managed marine parks in the world.
"Tubbataha Reefs offers unique diving in tropical waters with an incredibly diverse ecosystem."
Marine Life
Tubbataha Reefs consist of two uninhabited coral atolls – the North Atoll and South Atoll – along with the smaller Jessie Beazley Reef. These ecosystems are home to over 600 species of fish, 360 species of coral, 13 species of cetaceans, 11 species of sharks, and endangered sea turtles such as the hawksbill turtle and the green turtle. The vibrant coral reefs also host dolphins, schools of spotted jacks, and majestic manta rays. Pelagic species find shelter and food here, while ocean currents support the growth of giant gorgonians that provide refuge for tiny seahorses.
Dive Sites
North Atoll: Malayan Wreck, Wall Street, Amos Rock, Shark Airport, Washing Machine.
South Atoll: South West Wall, Staghorn Point, Delsan Wreck, Black Wreck, T Wreck.
On the way back, we plan a stop at the famous Jessie Beazley Reef, located northwest of the North Atoll. Tubbataha Reefs promises an adventure that will undoubtedly be the highlight of any diving season.
